“The Thornton Junction – Levenmouth rail link” by Dr Allen Armstrong, Secretary. LMRC

Levenmouth including the towns of Leven, Methil and Buckhaven is now Scotland’s most populous urban area not on the rail network, yet the 5-mile branch line from Thornton Junction survives in Network Rail ownership and is operational for coal traffic as far as Earlseat. Other freight opportunities could include the distiller Diageo at Cameron Bridge and the Fife Energy Park at Methil. Levenmouth is an area of high unemployment which the Campaign believes could be alleviated by restoring a passenger service facilitating access to jobs in Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and Edinburgh.

Could Levenmouth be Scotland’s next line reinstatement after the Borders Railway?

There is no charge for this event and no booking required. A light buffet will be available.
