Event Details

Francis How, Technical Director of the Rail Industry Association, continues our theme of developing a sustainable and future-proof railway for CP5 and beyond.

Francis’s presentation will discuss the Railway Technical Strategy. Produced by the Technical Strategy Leadership Group and first published in 2007, this sets out a long-term vision for the railway as a system. Updated and reissued in 2012 (so now known in short as RTS 2012), the strategy focusses on the “4C” challenges of increased capacity, reduced carbon, lower costs and improved customer satisfaction.

Francis How is the Technical Director of the Rail Industry Association, a role he has undertaken since 2008, focussing particularly on facilitating innovation in the GB rail industry and on supporting the drive to make our railways more sustainable. Previously he was Director of the Atkins rail control systems consultancy business and before that he was Professional Head of Signalling within what is now RSSB.

Time: 17:30 for 17:45 start

Venue: Room MR1, East Midlands Trains Training Academy, Hudson Way, Derby. DE24 8HS.
