Event Details

The timetable is one of the railway’s most tangible products, and provides the industry’s promise to our customers. Our customers are highly dependent on its consistent and reliable delivery and see it as a fundamental component of their journey next to safety. The timetable change of May 2018 demonstrated that we don’t always get this right with the resulting widespread national condemnation from the public, press and politicians.

However, there are great examples that we never hear about, with cross industry working leading to predictably reliable journeys. Chris Rowley, who heads up Network Rail’s timetabling and capacity planning function as Capacity Planning Director, will talk us through some case studies of how this has worked and what the industry is doing to learn from the lessons of a challenging 2018 in order to deliver seamless timetable changes. This will provide an interesting and essential insight to railway operators of any discipline.

We welcome all IRO members, anyone that works in the railway industry (or is looking to join), and anyone interested in becoming a member of the IRO. Refreshments will be available from 17.45 and the event will be followed by our popular networking session giving you the opportunity to meet fellow railway industry professionals with a complimentary warm finger buffet.

If you are a member and would like to attend, please log-in and use the booking form or for non-members please email iro@railwayoperators.co.uk.
