Event Details

In November 2014 six UK Rail Industry Managers had the opportunity to visit the CJR Network in Japan.

From an army of 55 people in Tokyo undertaking a station turn round for a 16 coach train with 1300 seats in 12 minutes to maintenance of their Shinkansen train fleet the UK and Japanese Railway Operation appear to be as far apart as they could be. However, clear parallels are evident. David Crome, First Great Western’s General Manager (West) will share his experiences from the visit and provide an insight into potential learning and development opportunities for the UK rail industry.

Please meet outside the Pumpkin Café on Platform 1

(The event will be timed to conclude to enable rail connections from Exeter towards Bristol, Swindon, Reading and the West of England).

Members of the South West & Wales Area Council will will be on hand and will be happy to tell you more about the Institution, including events, membership and Learning & Development Opportunities.

CPD Topics Covered: Delivering Customer Services, Delivering Passenger and Freight Services, Operational Planning and Timetabling, People and Change, Performance Management, Railway Organisations Business Context, Rolling Stock and Fleet Management, Train Movement Control Systems
