Event Details
On the morning of 12 December 1988, a crowded passenger train crashed into the rear of another train that had stopped at a signal just south of Clapham Junction station in London, and subsequently collided with an empty train travelling in the opposite direction. A total of 35 people died in the collision, while 484 were injured.
After his excellent talk on the Ladbroke Grove accident last year, we have invited Greg Morse back to talk through the events leading up to the accident at Clapham Junction, as well as the lessons we learnt as an industry to control future risks.
This event will be of particular interest to those interested in the “Managing Safety” and “Incident and Emergency Management” elements of the IRO Professional Operators Development (POD)
Greg Morse D.Phil MIRO is Leading Health & Safety on Britain’s Railway Editor and Operational Feedback Lead at the Rail Safety and Standards Board. He is known across the industry as an engaging and enthusiastic speaker, so we are delighted that he will be returning to speak to our members about the Clapham Junction accident.
