Event Details

The Llangollen Railway is one of the most popular preserved railways in the UK. Running from Llangollen to Corwen, it passes through some of the most beautiful scenery in the British Isles. Using steam and diesel locomotives, hauling vintage rolling stock, with beautifully preserved stations along its route; the railway is a great attraction for people of all ages.

Our visit will include a full round-trip Llangollen-Corwen-Llangollen, with opportunities for photo-stops, and refreshments.

There also will be the opportunity to visit a signal box, and the workshops, where the rolling stock is maintained and repaired. It is the intention to hold a raffle, where the winner will get the opportunity to travel on the footplate, with the Driver and Fireman.

There will be much to see and do! During that weekend the railway is holding a Sixties Event, where there will be music, fashion, and other artefacts from that era. We are intending to conclude our visit with a meal in Llangollen, before the return journey, for those interested. Attendance at this meal is entirely optional.

This event is expected to be very popular! In order to assist members and their families, we are hoping to provide transport from Crewe, departing from the railway station at 09.00 hrs.

In order to organise a suitable vehicle, and to make advance bookings with the Llangollen Railway, it is important that members make their interest known, and book this by June 23rd.

It is also the intention of the IRO N.W. Area Council to subsidise at least part of the day’s activities, so that the cost to members and their families is kept to a minimum. In order to reserve places for this event, please email: nw.bookings@railwayoperators.co.uk
