Event Details
A presentation by Sally Buttifant, Community Rail Officer, Cheshire West and Chester Council, and Professor Paul Salveson, Group Advisor (Community Rail), Arriva UK Trains.
Time: 17:30 for Light Refreshments, 18:00 Start
When the term ‘Community Rail’ is uttered, it conjures thoughts of well meaning local residents tending to gardens at rural stations. However, this presentation intends to shed light on this important social aspect of the industry, and what the term ‘Community Rail’ means to us as operators.
ACORP represents some fifty community rail partnerships and over a thousand station adoption groups right across the UK. The excellent and knowledgeable speakers will explain the origins of community support for local rail services and how local authorities and users’ groups are driving change today on Britain’s secondary lines.
