Event Details

Tom Curry, Caledonian Sleeper Operations, Manager will provide a presentation on the impact of weather events such as ‘Storm Frank’ which resulted in the closure of Lamington viaduct.  The damage from the floodwaters was significant and the scale of the damage and the complex nature of the engineering challenges meant repairs took longer than initially was thought.  Tom and his team ensured that Caledonian Sleeper services on the West Coast Main Line were diverted via the G&SW route which was a significant logistical challenge.  He will also provide an insight into other weather related incidents which affected Sleeper services at Caldew junction and Dalguise.

Tom will also discuss the exciting changes which will take place in 2018.  A brand new £150m fleet of trains. This represents a truly game-changing moment for the Caledonian Sleeper and the UK travel industry as a whole.  The new trains will offer a range of accommodation options including Comfort Seats and Classic Rooms. They will also introduce Club Rooms, which come with en-suite toilet and shower.

We will meeting at 17:30 for an 18:00 start and light refreshments and food for the event will be provided.  Post event there will be an opportunity for some networking.

This is a free to attend event, however, due to ScotRail Atrium Court security arrangements, BOOKING IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL. Email scottisharea@railwayoperators.co.uk to book your place. Your booking should not be deemed to have been secured unless you have received an email confirmation from the Chair.
