IRO Area

Event Details

The Scottish Area of the IRO are delighted to announce, in conjunction with the SRPS https://www.bkrailway.co.uk  a behind the scenes, full access to see how an Operational Heritage Railway is run.

This unique one-day event will allow you full access to the many different roles that are required to run a railway. You will be allowed access to the footplate, signal box, Diesel Shed and end the day in the Museum of Scottish Railways

https://www.bkrailway.co.uk/your-visit/museum/

On the day we will split into 3 groups and will rotate between the Diesel Shed, Signal Box & Station and travel on the train. A knowledgeable member of staff, who will explain and demonstrate each role, will accompany each group. Not only will you get involved with the operations of the railway, but you will also get to see behind the scenes an insight into what it takes for a heritage railway to keep moving.

This is a unique opportunity and not one that you would normally be able to experience in great detail. This will be a free event for members only. Participants must make their own travel arrangements and be at Bo’ness by 0915hrs for a site safety briefing and overview of the day.

Numbers to this event will be restricted so please book using registration below – you will need to be logged in to the website to use the booking facility.  If you have any issues please contact the office on 03333 440523.

Sensible footwear is required for the day.

CPD Topics Covered: Managing Safety, Operational Planning and Timetabling, Railway Organisations Business Context, Rolling Stock and Fleet Management
