IRO End-Point Assessment Service
The IRO is pleased to announce it is the first organisation to be approved as an End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) for the Train Driver apprenticeship standard:
This has been achieved thanks to the support of the Train Driver Trailblazer group, who have collaborated to ensure that the Train Driver apprenticeship standard is relevant and fit for purpose within the industry. IRO have worked closely with the Trailblazer group to ensure that it’s end-point assessment is of the highest possible standard.
What is the Gateway Assessment?
Before an employer can put their apprentice forward for end-point assessment, they must first complete the Gateway assessment. This is the process of establishing that the apprentice has completed all aspects of their apprenticeship and is occupationally competent to carry out their role, the training provider can be consulted to assist with this decision.
IRO End-Point Assessment Process
IRO will provide an independent assessor. It is the responsibility of the independent assessor to carry out the end-point assessment, which will consist of an online test, an observation and a professional discussion. The independent assessor is then responsible for grading the apprenticeship. On successful completion of the end-point assessment, the apprentice will receive an apprenticeship certificate from the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
