The Institution of Railway Operators has seven Area Councils located throughout the UK and Ireland whose purpose is to:

• Promote the aim of the Institution and take responsibility for recruiting new members
• Arrange meetings and visits
• Facilitate mentoring of individuals through the educational programme
• Arrange workshops and seminars as part of the educational process
